Actor ponders Abbey future
Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville says the franchise may have run its course. Bonneville played Robert Crawley in the Downton Abbey TV show, which ran from 2010 to 2015 on PBS, as well as two films — 2019's Downton Abbey and this year's Downton Abbey: A New Era. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, he addressed the possibility of a third movie. “I think the second film was such a joyous one and such a good note on which to end the story,” he said. “And it does feel like it can end. There's still open doors in it, but I think it might be the right time to stop.”
